Welcome to our City of Bloomfield Kentucky. It was incorporated in 1819 and is one of the four incorporated cities in Nelson County. We are a fifth class city with a population of 868 residents according to the 2004 census.

Our citizens are privileged to have many economic amenities to provide them with a convenient and comfortable living. The city owns the Bloomfield Water and Sewer Company and supplies water and sewer for our citizens. It also supplies water to the northeast portion of Nelson County. Kentucky Utilities supplies our electricity and Insight Communications is our cable franchise. Fire protection comes from the Northeast Nelson Fire Department, which provides fire protection for all of the northeast area of Nelson County. The city owns and maintains the Bloomfield Memorial Park, which includes a paved walking path, a lake, baseball and t-ball diamonds, a soccer field, a concession stand and pavilion. Many youth from the City and surrounding areas participate in youth programs. The pavilion is rented out for family events throughout the summer.

The City is privileged to have two doctors, a dentist, a chiropractor and a drug store to address our citizens' health care concerns. Two banks are located in the city offering a variety of banking and investment services. An accountant and computer technician operate a business within the our city. We have a department store and grocery store to supply the citizens' everyday needs. Two gas stations provide many on-the-go products that are necessary to our everyday living.

Bloomfield is rich in historical character as displayed by many downtown buildings restored by local residents. Our streetscapes, park, sidewalks, and bridges have been renovated by the city in coordination with local interest community groups and grant funding. There are many churches, two schools located just outside the city limits, and a variety of local merchants that keep our city thriving.

Visit our city, stay a while in our newly renovated bed and breakfast, or visit My Old Kentucky Home State Park just 12 miles southeast of Bloomfield. Come live here and share in our resources and prosperity!

Thank you for your visit and follow our progress in the making!

Sincerely,

Ronnie Bobblett
Mayor
